Poisoning to kill His Divine Holiness: 1st plot to assassinate

It was the largest yearly celebration - the birth star anniversary (called ‘Avatar Jayanti’) of His Divine Holiness Paramahamsa Nithyananda, awaited and attended by lakhs of followers at the Bengaluru Aadheenam, the spiritual headquarters of the worldwide movement.

December 2009, Birth Star celebration at Bengaluru Aadheenam, where His Divine Holiness is seen amidst scores of followers in a public congregation.

The 10-day long celebrations involved several meditation programs, temple rituals, special food servings, cultural programs and humanitarian offerings. Several thousands of volunteers continuously served the people.

On December 23, 2009, after the evening celebrations of the day, at around 10pm, His Divine Holiness was in the main meditation hall giving public darshan (individual blessings) to the thousands gathered. He personally attended to each person, healing and spiritually guiding them.

In the Hindu tradition, the Guru (spiritual master) directly accepts the offerings from the disciples as a way to relieve them of their karma (absolving their unfulfilled past actions). Upholding this

sacred tradition, on the occasion of the Birth Star celebration, His Divine Holiness made himself personally available to humanity and accepted their offerings directly with His own hands.

Devotees and followers travelled across miles, awaiting this special occasion to offer their best to their revered Guru. The offerings varied across fruits, grains, clothing, spiritual items etc. that have special spiritual significance in the Hindu culture.

December 2009, the Birth Star celebration (Avatar Jayanti) of His Divine Holiness during the ‘darshan’ (individual blessings), where several thousands received personal blessings from Him.

It was then, during that ongoing darshan amidst thousands of people being individually attended by His Divine Holiness along with His personal secretaries by the side to steer the moving queues of people, that the most unsuspected incident happened.

A lady named ‘Aarthi Rao’ walked towards His Divine Holiness holding a small bag and made a request to Him to drink a glass of juice, which she claimed she made personally as an offering to Him.

Although it was a strange request, given that customarily no personally prepared items of this nature were generally received, His Divine Holiness still accepted this offering, not denying the reverence of the people.

In a moment, His Divine Holiness took the glass from the woman to drink the juice, much to the dismay of His secretaries. As He drank the first sip, He instantly sensed that the juice did not smell or taste of a fruit; it tasted pungent and strong, having traces of bitterness on the palate, as if spoilt, with a metallic odour. Just with a single sip, as the liquid flowed through the food tract, a mix of burning and irritation sensation was felt followed by body chills and shivering.

Shortly after, His Divine Holiness retired to his quarters close by, feeling nausea, difficulty in breathing and exhaustion. Within two hours, His secretary and caretaker, Dr. Sri Nithya Pranananda, who is a physician, started noticing unusual symptoms in His Divine Holiness such as excessive body sweating, vomiting, severe stomach pain, heavy breathing and restlessness with high blood pressure and heart rate. He immediately administered medicines. Sri Nithya Pranananda understood this as a life emergency and a team of trusted doctors were called.

The doctors and medical experts rushed to attend to save the life of His Divine Holiness, as His bodily symptoms became unusual and traumatic.

Lethal Poison of Unknown Nature - Life Saved with Medical Attention

The team of doctors including ayurveda specialist and toxicologists diagnosed His Divine Holiness with ingested lethal poison of unknown nature given orally. The unknown poison seemed to be a mixed concoction of harmful chemicals. It had medium but severe exposure into the body with a risk to heart, GI (GastroIntestinal) tract and nervous system functioning.

The next day devotees who had gathered for His Birth Star celebration were eagerly expecting Him for a public discourse. The disciples managed to pacify the devotees by engaging them in different temple rituals, ceremonies and cultural programs.

His Divine Holiness endures 48 hours of trauma

Meanwhile, in the next 24 hours, a series of life-saving medical treatments continued to excrete out the toxins from the body. Intravenous fluids were given to retain body fluids. He had vomited four times in first four hours. Shortly the medicines and detoxification started working and vomiting stopped. However His body continued to sweat profusely for a full day. His Divine Holiness was kept under constant medical observation for the next 48 hours after which He came out of danger.

Source of poison confirmed

During such functions His Divine Holiness sits for long duration attending to people individually, without having any meal. It was the same on that day too. It was beyond any doubt that the juice offered to His Divine Holiness was a lethal poison. His Divine Holiness had taken only a sip of that poisonous juice. Had even half a glass of that poison been consumed, or had the diagnosis and treatment been delayed or wrongly done, death would have been inevitable in the traumatic 48 hours that He had endured.

His close disciples were shocked to hear about the poisoning, and were completely broken when they realized that ‘someone was wanting to kill their beloved Guru’. Immense pain and terror entered their innocent lives. They could not reconcile that a planned conspiracy to kill their beloved Guru was executed so easily.

A written complaint was given to the police.

“Why would Aarthi Rao want to kill Swamiji”

“Who would want to Kill Swamiji?” “Why would she want to kill?” “Did somebody use her?” “Why would somebody want to kill Swamiji” “What will somebody gain by killing Him?” These were some of the questions that kept His close disciples terrorised for a long time.

From this incident onwards, His personal security was intensified and strict measures were taken for the food safety. His direct contact with audiences became restricted.

25th December 2009 marks the dark day when the lethal conspiracy started, followed by ongoing murder attempts on the life of His Divine Holiness Paramahamsa Nithyananda, with 100 such life-attempts in the following years.

This same woman Arathi Rao, who tried to kill Him in 2009 came back in March 2010, this time with a much more sinister well-planned killer attack, functioning as a “key instrument” of Hindu extremist militant terrorist groups working to eliminate His Divine Holiness.

A Lawyer approaches claiming His Divine Holiness’ life was under threat

Double Agent - Lawyer Sridhar

**On 17 February 2010 in Coimbatore, Tamilnadu, South India,**His Divine Holiness Paramahamsa Nithyananda delivered a satsang(spiritual discourse) on Srimad Bhagavad Gita. After the satsang He gave darshan (individual blessing to all), attending to people’s healing requests and life problems. A man named Sridhar came in the queue of devotees and silently handed a slip of paper to His Divine Holiness. The slip of paper reached His secretary, Sri Nithya Pranananda as was the usual procedure for all papers that were given to Him.

Sridhar gave a slip of paper to His Divine Holiness which read, “CBI (Central Bureau Investigation) Matter. Need to talk in private. Top Secret. 9841029900 Call me immediately“

When Pranananda called Sridhar and asked who he was, he claimed to be a lawyer. Sridhar claimed that His Divine Holiness’ life was in risk and he needs to have a word with the administrators to explain in more detail.

**On 20 February 2010,**Sridhar urged Sri Nithya Pranananda over the phone to allow a meeting. He said he would reveal who was behind the life attempts. Sri Nithya Pranananda agreed to meet him and Sridhar came to the Bengaluru Aadheenam (temple monastery complex) that night itself. Some disciples felt suspicious of Sridhar and recorded his visit to the aadheenam.

Sridhar showed fabricated obscene pictures of His Divine Holiness

**21 February 2010 :**Sri Nithya Pranananda was expecting Sridhar to be revealing more information about the poisoning attempted on His Divine Holiness the previous year, instead Sridhar showed some pictures to Sri Nithya Pranananda. Sridhar explained that those were fabricated images of Paramahamsa Nithyananda and a South Indian actress Ranjitha. Sri Nithya Pranananda was shocked beyond words. He was a simple monk, who had no idea about the criminal world. He didn’t know what to make out of the situation.

Sridhar explained that there were big people behind this conspiracy and more than he could reveal awaited them, “indeed the images are fabricated but there is no point in arguing. This is ‘just a trailer’, a ‘full movie’ was going to be released by ‘big people’, ‘powerful forces’ who were behind this, who would be using their influence and resources to destroy the public image of His Divine Holiness and His organisation.” At any moment, the video could be published across several media channels and go viral. He asked Sri Nithya Pranananda to come with important members of the organization to Chennai for “negotiations” on this “highly sensitive” topic.

Some Monks refuse to believe Sridhar

When Sri Nithya Pranananda revealed this shocking news to other disciples, everybody was shocked. Some were not ready to believe that any of Sridhar’s claims were real. They considered Sridhar as a nobody and did not expect any media house to get involved in things like broadcasting fabricated videos.

Sridhar had also revealed that there were implants amongst aadheenam residents and devotees. Sridhar demanded an amount of 5 lakh INR (~ $ 7000 USD) as a token “consultation fee” to start the “negotiations”.

Sridhar said, “25 December 2009 was just a warning, by now you should know what Aarthi and Lenin can do. Please do not delay, you should not risk His life when you know they are out to get Him.”

Matter was His life, they could not take any risk

But Sridhar had caught the attention of everyone, as he had named “Aarthi Rao” as one of the conspirators behind this. About three months earlier, His Divine Holiness had been saved from a lethal poisoning attack, and all fingers were pointing to the same lady, “Aarthi Rao,” and here again Sridhar was taking her name. It sent chills down the spine of the naive disciples.

The disciples just simply went along with Sridhar’s claims and went to Chennai. Sri Nithya Bhaktananda, Sri Nithya Sadananda and Sri Nithya Pranananda from the Bengaluru Aadheenam, visited Sridhar in Chennai as per his request for the ‘negotiations’.

The Naive monks fail to see the consequences

In Chennai, on 23 February 2010, Sri Nithya Bhaktananda, Sri Nithya Sadananda, and Sri Nithya Pranananda met the advocate Sridhar. Sridhar declared that Aarthi and Lenin were demanding Rs. 100 crores INR ($14 Million USD). The Administrators were shell-shocked. They out-right refused. They told him they had not come to give any money; neither they had nor they would give anything. They kept insisting that they wanted Aarthi Rao and Lenin to be physically present there.

Disciples demand original files

Sridhar started getting annoyed. Sridhar told, “You need to co-operate. Give at least an initial amount and then they will come.” The administrators pressed their ground that they want to see Lenin and Aarthi. Further the administrators requested that they should come with the original raw footage and video project files, which Sridhar refused to accept.

What are “project files”

In case of video editing through any app or any professional software, there are various small files which add up to give the final video. For example - raw camera footages, special effects, stock videos and images, audio files, computer instructions, etc. These files are called project files. They are combined by means of the video editing software into a final single video file. Example -

Final Published File

Final published file in a single video that can be easily uploaded on youtube and other platforms. The evidence of how the video editing and manipulation is done, is completely erased. The fabricated obscene video that was used to blackmail, had several obvious edits which any naked eye could tell. For example the video was not continuous, it had several abrupt changes.

“The girl with man face” - in this example, the female actress’s face has been replaced with that of the male actor.

How would original project files help ?

If the disciples had a hold on the original project files, it could be very easily explained and revealed how the video editing was done by the conspirators.

“If you do not pay - soon the whole world will be after His life”

Sridhar came back for a second round of extortion. He said Lenin and Aarthi had relaxed their demand. They wanted a reduced amount of **Rs. 600 million INR ( ~ $10 Million USD)**and the two prime properties belonging to the Aadheenam – one in Hyderabad and one in Chennai. The disciples held their ground, that they wanted to see the original files, and they wanted to meet Lenin and Aarthi.

Sridhar exclaimed, “ It is not about them (Lenin and Aarthi). It is not about the video. It is about His life. If You don’t understand, if you don’t cooperate, if you do not pay - soon the entire world will be after His life. Anytime they will release the (fabricated) video. After that nobody will want to help Him. Anybody can kill Him after that. Nobody will care.”

Aarthi Rao Threatens to press FAKE Rape charges

**24 February 2010 :**Sridhar met the Administrators again and threatened them that it was getting delayed and demanded Rs. 60 lakhs INR (~ $100,000 USD) to be paid immediately as a token advance. Sridhar also spelt the breakup of the token amount as Rs. 10 lakhs to Sridhar

and Rs. 50 lakhs to Lenin, Aarthi Rao and their other aides. The Administrators insisted that Lenin and his group should be present.

Sridhar connected Lenin over the phone speaker for the Administrators to talk. Lenin in turn connected to Aarthi Rao. Aarthi Rao threatened the Administrators of Paramahamsa Nithyananda that if **Rs. 60 lakhs INR (~ $100,000 USD)**was not paid IMMEDIATELY as an advance, she would press fake rape charges against Paramahamsa Nithyananda and also false cases against all of them and send them to prison.

Further, Lenin Karuppan connected the phone line to Nakkheeran Gopal, owner of the erotic Tamil Tabloid magazine “Nakkheeran” and his chief editor, Kamraj.

**Nakkheeran Gopal threatened the disciples, “**Pay Rs. 60 lakhs now. What is there, it is such a small amount for you. Afterall, so many rich devotees come from so many countries. That much your temple donation box alone will have. Kamraj is waiting to publish some hot erotic stories on this. Do you want to read them or will you pay now?”

Nakkheeran Gopal continued to threaten the Administrators that they are very well aware about his politically well-connected background and that if they do not abide by the extortion demands, he will completely destroy to the roots, Paramahamsa Nithyananda and his organisation.

Monks only insisted on physical presence of Lenin and Aarthi

The administrators again insisted that Lenin and Aarthi Rao should be present for the talks. But Sridhar angrily threatens, “ **Things will not happen as per your wish.**Beggar cannot be choosers. Right now you are beggars, do you understand? Beg them, they might relax the demand. But whatever it is, you have to agree, you have to pay. You guys are idiots. I will come back tomorrow, think about what I told.”

The Naive disciples continue to stay blind to real danger

Aarthi Rao is threatening she would press FAKE rape charges on his Divine Holiness.

Owner of an erotic Tamil Tabloid - Nakkheeran has also teamed up.

Nakkheeran was threatening to publish erotic stories, also demanding a huge sum.

They were demanding high-worth properties donated recently which not many people knew about.

Still the disciples were trying to assess the growing magnitude of the Conspiracy. They could see that their agenda was not just extortion but extermination of Paramahamsa Nithyananda and His worldwide organisations.

**The tall demands of the extortionists, spoke loud and clear of a conspiracy much bigger than what met the eye.**Still the disciples were oblivious that they were facing a systematic attack by unknown elements. They were completely clueless. They did not realise that they had merely scratched the surface of a heinous conspiracy and much more lay in waiting.

On the evening of the 24th, at around 6pm, Sridhar once again came to the hotel room and threatened angrily, “ **You are playing with fire!**Lenin and Aarthi Rao are angry.” The three disciples did not budge. Sridhar then told them, “ Things are not going to happen by merely talking to you all. We have to resort to “other means” to make it happen. Only then you will understand.” Saying so, he left angrily.

Sri Nithya Pranananda recollects,

“At around 9 pm the same day, Ayya (Sri Nithya Sadananda) was resting because of his knee pain. Ayya was the most senior amongst us. Before joining the aadheenam he was suffering with ‘liver cirrhosis’ which got completely healed by Swamiji. I felt, what was happening was too much for him to handle.

While we were in the room, suddenly, we were surprised to see a large group of men with iron rods enter the room. They simply started beating us abruptly. Lenin and Kumar caught Ayya’s (Sri Nithya Sadananda) neck and hit his head on the wall. Rest of them started meeting me and Bhaktananda Swami.

They made it clear that it was just a warning and if we did not oblige to their demands, next time it will be ‘Swamiji’s life’. (Paramahamsa Nithyananda).

I was terribly shocked by the attack. I did not know what hatred they had towards any of us. What had Ayya done? He was an old monk, who had several health issues, who got a second life from Swamiji and was just serving the world in gratitude. They could have spared Ayya at-least. What had any of us done to them. I am just a simple monk, I don’t know how these thugs and mafia and criminal people operate. I just know, “Lokāḥ Samastāḥ Sukhino Bhavantu - Let the entire world be happy.”

Lenin told me, that if anything happened to Swamiji, I should be blamed. He claimed that it was because of me that the extortion money has still not reached him (Lenin). He told me, ‘We will finish off (Paramahamsa) Nithyananda and pin it on you..’

I didn’t know what to do. Lenin then instructed the thugs to ransack the place. They stole the money we had brought for our expenses so as to torture us further. We were hardly left with any money to even return to aadheenam. I really don’t know what I should have done. It was too painful to know because of my stupidity and stubbornness, Swamiji’s life could be in danger.”

**25 February 2010 :**After the physical assault, life-threat and grabbing of money the previous day by Lenin and his aides, Pranananda was forced to arrange the extortion money to reach him in Chennai.

“Pay now, before it is too late,” warns Sridhar

**26 February 2010 :**Sridhar furiousouly threatened Pranananda that he was delaying things and that if he delays further, all of them will be destroyed.

The double agent - Sridhar - grabs his cut and escapes

27 Feb 2010: Pranananda and the administrators of Paramahamsa Nithyananda, handed over a partial amount collected from devotees (25 lakhs) to the extortionist Sridhar as a partial fulfilment of the demanded amount. They told Sridhar that they could gather only that much money under the circumstances and told him to hand over the morphed images to them in its original created medium. Sridhar then promised Pranananda that he will talk to Lenin and his aides and close the matter smoothly. Soon after, Sridhar vanished.

**02 March 2010 :**At around 7 pm on 2 March 2010, the blackmailers and extortionists group released the very same fabricated obscene video, through Sun Television Network. Within no time, the footage went viral on visual and print media and on the internet. The ruthless attack continued to the next level.

Kalaignar - “The ‘great’ Tamil artist-writer”

Karunanidhi (Jun 1924 - Aug 2018) was one of the founders of the political party DMK - Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam, and it’s longest serving leader. DMK is a leading atheistic anti-Hindu political party of Tamil Nadu - founded in 1949.

By their very atheistic ideology, DMK has been against religious beliefs and practices and against Hindu temples and Gurus. DMK when in power, brought many temples under the government, destroying and looting the wealths of thousands of temples. He was the tool to start the attack by the extremist militant forces on His Divine Holiness.

Karunanidhi, the founder-leader of DMK, **started his career as a scriptwriter.**Several movies were made based on novels and scripts written by him from 1947 to 2011. He was extremely popular for his command over the Tamil language. Karunanidhi considered himself - Kalaignar- a great artist a great writer. He believed, it was his fluency of the Tamil language, that had made him Chief Minister of the State of Tamil Nadu five times- for almost two decades over five terms between 1969 and 2011.

2009 - last days of his ‘greatness’?

In 2009, Karunanidhi (85-year-old at that time) had called for an all-party meeting. Even after monetary compensation it saw an attendance of only 24,000 party workers. In the same year, about two months later, His Divine Holiness Paramahamsa Nithyananda (who was 32 years old then) conducted a series of satsangs on the sacred text of Bhagavad Gita in the very same hall where Karunanidhi had called his all party meeting. The attendance for the satsang was more than 50,000. People heard four hour long

discourses unmoving from their chairs and even waited 24 hours for personal darshan of His Divine Holiness. Was it too much for Karunanidhi to handle?

His Divine Holiness accomplished in just 5 years what karunanidhi took 50 years to accomplish

Karunanidhi had worked for almost half-a-century to gather the influence he hadover the society and build his power structure. His Divine Holiness, was extremely young (merely 32) compared to the aged Karunanidhi (85 at that time). He had gathered a huge following very quickly, including party workers and family-friends of Karunanidhi.

While His Divine Holinesshad started the Bengaluru Aadheenam in 2003 and in five years by 2008 had spread across 33 countries, and had disciples and devotees from all spectrum of the society - right from movie star to Presidents of different countries to simple countryside peasants.

But why 3rd March?

On 3 March 2009, His Divine Holiness Paramahamsa Nithyananda released the Tamil version of his groundbreaking successful book - Jeevan Mukti. The book was released across 123 cities worldwide and sold a record 2,50,000 copies on day 1. Karunanidhi had written several books, novels, and movie scripts in Tamil. The Jeevan Mukti Tamil book - had witnessed a massive positive reception across many countries, a kind of reception which was far ahead of what any of Karunanidhi works had gathered.

Could he be used by somebody else?

Could someone else have exploited the feeling of being insulted, jealousy and hatred of a veteran politician - Karunanidhi? Could someone amalgamate jealousy into a huge systematic persecution on His Divine Holiness and His community?
