Cultural heritage of India is an extraordinary legacy of temple and temple monastery traditions – from which flourished several thousands of distinct and unique cultures, communities and rich city settlements that make it the most ancient, most alive and celebrating “living” tradition on the planet. Upholders of the temple traditions are the Hindu temple monastery complexes called ‘Aadheenams”, which have been led and administered by the spiritual inheritors named “Muttadhipati - the pontiffs” in lineage succession.

In the last few centuries, systematic barbarous acts of cultural genocide were executed by foreign invaders and by native extremist forces to exterminate the temple-based traditions and its religious communities, along with destruction of the great Hindu education system called “Gurukul (literally meaning the school lineage of spiritual master”.

His Divine Holiness Paramahamsa Nithyananda, as the monastically trained spiritual successor of the Hindu minority sect “Adi Shaiva” was making significant contributions in reviving and preserving the temple traditions and the communities (Aadheenams). In addition, He has been preserving, reviving, spreading and teaching the ancient knowledge systems from the source Hindu scriptures (the Vedagamas) and rapidly growing the lineage of trained life-dedicated disciples and child saints.

Bringing legitimacy to Sanatana Hindu Dharma - His Divine Holiness recognized as the spiritual inheritor and vouchsafed several temple monasteries

His Divine Holiness in full knowledge of Truth and deep concern for humanity, has known that humanity’s conscious breakthrough lies in revival of temples, ancient temple monasteries, culture, and specifically the people living that temple-based lifestyle. Very early in His childhood and in His public life from the year 2000, His Divine Holiness became the focus of spiritual leaders of the temple monasteries (Aadheenams), who unequivocally recognized Him as the future, hope and trust of the “Adi Shaiva” Hindu community.

At the age of 11, His Divine Holiness was gifted and vouchsafed the temple monastery built by His spiritual master, Mataji Vibhudananda ji, called “Adi Nithyananda Peetham”

In April 2012, His Divine Holiness was gifted and coronated as the 293rd Guru Maha Sannidhanam, the pontiff of Madurai Aadheenam, the world’s most ancient living Hindu religious organization, thus accepting the responsibility as the 293rd pontiff of Madurai Aadheenam as a successor to Sri La Sri Arunagirinatha Swamigal, the 292nd and current Pontiff of Madurai Aadheenam.

Before we narrate the incidents of genocidal attacks and the systematic cultural cleansing of the temple heritages that were given to His Divine Holiness, it is significant to understand how the deliberate killing of the Hindu culture deprived the ‘Adi Shaiva’ subsect their cultural identity and history. Any act of destroying temples and its people is crime against humanity.

The ancient mutts (temple monasteries) represent the entire lineage of enlightened Gurus, they therefore symbolize the spiritual legitimacy of Hinduism and the spiritual authority of the present ‘living Guru’.

The mutts are storehouses of ancient knowledge enriched by several spiritual masters through Guru-disciple lineage throughout the history.

Through these mutts, various spiritual masters have administered the temple traditions and propagated the eternal cause of human happiness and serving the humanity.

These mutts are living heritage sites holding divine history and spiritual energies, with repository of rich culture and true wisdom that the community has passed down through generations.

By destroying the present ‘living Guru’, the local Hindu militant extremists intended to end the magnificent history of the ancient mutts and destroy the eminent future.

Pavazha Kundru is a hilltop sacred spot on Arunachala, the Mountain-form of the primordial Hindu Divinity – MahaSadashiva in Tiruvannamalai, South India, birthplace of His Divine Holiness Paramahamsa Nithyananda.

From age 3, Paramahamsa Nithyananda lived in Pavazha Kundru exploring the ancient yogic sciences of Vedanta and Tantra with his Guru Maata Vibhutananda Puri. Following are clear revenue documents that show the name of His Divine Holiness Paramahamsa Nithyananda mentioned in the revenue records of the jurisdiction’s Sub- Registrar and Tahsildar offices of the Tiruvannamalai district since 2006. Further it has been clearly stated that there is explicit permission to put up an establishment with a fence and garden in the said place.

5 February 2017 - A Sanyasi and a volunteer physically attacked

Four assassins instigated by extremist Hindu forces, a communist political party leader Veerabhadran, along with his friend Karpukarna leader of Dravidian Karuzha, an atheist group, suddenly came and physically attacked - Sri Nithya Bhaktikamayananda Swami, a Sanyasi, and Anand, when they were offering worship,

Assaulted with stones and other sharp objects. They sustaining severe head injuries and heavy loss of blood, and were hospitalized for wounds throughout their body.

16 June 2017 - Assassins hunt for His Divine Holiness Paramahamsa Nithyananda and brutally attack Monks

On 16th June 2017, a group ofSanyasis**(male and female) were at Pavazha Kundru in Tiruvannamalai, offeringpuja(ritualistic worship) to The Sadashiva Shila. The district collector came with Police force and a huge group of people and removed the Sanyasis’ huts, manhandled them and finally arrested them.**

Ma Nithya Satyagjnanananda Swami who was present at the time recounts: “ Female sanyasis (Hindu monks) sharing about how they were manhandled and how much gross injustice was done to them.

We have all the documents with clear records to prove that since 2006, Swamiji is doing a lot of services like annadaan, teaching free meditation and yoga in this place. The local people are so happy with this, but the Hindu extremist terrorist elements want to grab this land. So they gave a false complaint against us. Without even listening to our side of the story, the District Collector ordered to remove the hut and the deities worshipped. So the Sub-Collector came with the officials and tore down the hut while we are sitting inside.

They abused the deities, touching them while wearing slippers, and abused ladies, pulling on our sarees and our hands. They pulled and pushed us. Not even 5 mins was given for us to explain our side. And very sad this is: the rock that we were worshipping as Sadashiva is being abused with slippers and liquor bottles. The trishulam (trident) was broken. This directly hurts our religious sentiments.”

Media houses like Sun Television, however, once again launched the ‘justification propaganda’ campaign to drive out theSanyasis**(Hindu monks) from their own land, rightfully owned by His Divine Holiness. They falsely spread the news as an issue of illegal land occupancy and encroaching the land!**

16 June 2017 - Mob attempts to Lynch Three Innocent Sanyasis at Pavazha Kundru

Repeated Attacks by assassins – incited with hatred by Hindu extremist terrorist elements – on Sadashiva Shila, at Pavazha Kundru in Tiruvannamalai.

On 16 June 2017, a mob of 80+ persons life attacked 3 innocent Sanyasis (Hindu monks) who were taking care of the Sadashiva Shila(rock worshipped as a living deity) at Pavazha Kundru.

22 June 2017 - Another life-attempt on Paramahamsa Nithyananda ends in illegal arrest of His Sanyas disciples at Pavazha Kundru, Tiruvannamalai

On 22 Jun 2017, the disciples of His Divine Holiness Paramahamsa Nithyananda, were offering abhishekam(sacred bath) during the puja(ritualistic worship) when the media staged a ‘justification propaganda campaign’ and the police exploited the weakness, in numbers, of the sanyasis (Hindu monks). All of a sudden, police and press media personnel, expecting the physical presence of His Divine Holiness Paramahamsa Nithyananda at the spot, arrived and started recording the sacred ritual on camera and televising it live. They made absurd statements as television commentary lines, speaking about the event with distorted lies.

Without any reason, the policeman suddenly dragged the disciples and illegally arrested them! Two women Sanyasiswere in the Sanyasisgroup. As per the law, women cannot be held in the police station after 6 pm. Completely violating this rule, they held the female Sanyasisin the police station till 7:30 pm. In such preposterous ways, Hindu monks and Hindu rituals and sacred sentiments were treated, harassing and instil fear in them to subjugate them. All the surprise attacks are a direct life-attempt on His Divine Holiness.

18 May 2018 - Abuse of the Sadashiva Shila

On 18th May 2018, Hindu terrorist militant elements, abuse the sacred Sadashiva Shila (sacred rock) on Pavazha Kundru in Tiruvannamalai; attempted to lynch the devotee when they could

not reach His Divine Holiness. The devotee came to offer puja to the Sadashiva Shila.

The attackers assaulted him with stones and sharp weapons, and criminally intimidated him hurling life threats, deterring him from continuing worship. The aged caretaker lady who lives there was also attacked, suffering head injury inflicted by assassins.

The persistent abusal of this rare heritage site and life-attacks by Hindu extremist militant forces clearly reveals their demoniac agenda to destroy Sanatana Hindu Dharma (Hinduism), completely by destroying such spiritually significant Hindu sites and the people protecting them.

The attackers tore and pulled down the saffron robe placed on the Sadashiva Shila, bringing it on the ground and also unearthed the sacred Trishul (trident) damaging it beyond repair.

It is here in Nithyananda Peetham, Trishulam Aadheenam, on 7 Aug 2017 at around 4 am, that His Divine Holiness appeared giving a ‘darshan’ (an appearance perceived by the people), when physically, He was in the Bengaluru Aadheenam in Bengaluru, more than 400 kilometers away!

The Divine feet of His Holiness sculpted in stone has been consecrated in the exact location where darshan of His Divine Holiness happened. This spot inside the Aadheenam where the stone feet have been consecrated, is the energy hub of the Aadheenam where powerful manifestation of prayers happens.

The contending forces for the property

Hindu extremist militant groups as well as atheist groups wanted this prime property for their vested interests. But the property had already been donated to His Divine Holiness Paramahamsa Nithyananda on 9 July 2007, the occasion of Guru Purnima, for (besides spiritual activities) the purpose of running a low cost hospital to serve the people. Trishulam Aadheenam was destined to become the largest center of Sanatana Hindu Dharma (Hinduism) in the whole of Tamilnadu. This was informed to them.

The backlash becomes a saga of persecution

**The backlash of this, resulted in a series of attacks on Trishulam Aadheenam through first degree mob lynching,**to consume the very lives of the Sanyasis and devotees who resided there. The vicious forces found a henchman, named Krishnan, and his family, who were encroachers in the property, and who became the tool in the hands of the attackers, to incite mob hatred against His Divine Holiness and His Sanyasis in the local area. The result? A saga of persecution on the Sanyasis who were carrying on the socio-spiritual services.

The Sanyasis and devotees stood strong and dedicated, facing the saga of persecution, while continuing the socio-spiritual services with all sincerity. The attacks continue till date. The services also continue till date.

24 April, 2017 - A Sanyasi describes his stay at the aadheenam

“The Hindu extremist militant and the anti-Hindu forces, strategically planned and denied my right of life and security, by not allowing me to have basic needs such as food, water and shelter. I felt it was truly dehumanizing”(Violation of Article 3 of the UN Human Rights declaration)

Sri Nithya Yogaswarupananda candidly tells his experience of living in Trishulam Aadheenam (a temple monastery complex) for one year, as a vicious unforeseen battle was started there by Sun Television and Hindu extremist militant groups. For one year, he alone faced the initial abuse with a brave face, standing for the teachings of Sanatana Hindu Dharma (now called Hinduism) as taught by his beloved Guru His Divine Holiness Paramahamsa Nithyananda.

A Divine Vision for the land - thwarted and postponed

His Divine Holiness Paramahamsa Nithyananda had sent a team of disciples to build a temple, a low cost hospital, gurukul school and serve anna dhaan (free food service) in the Trishulam Aadheenam. He was inspiring them to immediately start serving all the local people with a long term goal of providing free medical care and education to the community. In His infinite compassion, Paramahamsa Nithyananda told them that money was no obstacle, and encouraged them to build using only the best materials. Unfortunately though, the plans were challenged by a group of local assassins instigated by Hindu extremist militant groups and atheist groups who wanted to grab that land for themselves. These assassins themselves, were instigated by encroachers on the land who were actually the henchmen of the Hindu extremist and atheist groups.

“All essentials were cut off for me by the assassins”

These assassins--who spared no second thought to trashing the land and physically attacking their perceived opponent--barred delivery trucks from bringing building materials, threatened violence against workers, plumbers and construction crews who were hired to develop infrastructure there, and worst of all, they acted on their threats.

*“I was weak, famished and dehydrated,”*says Sri Nithya Yogaswarupananda, who was the sole rightful occupant of the land at that time. “I had enough money to buy whatever I wanted: the best food, barrels of water, but no matter how much I ordered, not a single load was allowed to reach me. They didn’t care whether I lived or died; they only wanted to continue to trash the land they stole from our Sangha (community). The worst part was, the police played along both sides, so expecting any kind of justice from them in spite of being the owner of the land was mere wishful thinking.”

“The assassins attacked and threatened me”

A mob of four people came and attacked me. They left me bloodied and bruised. they warned “If you stay here, you have to listen to us, you have to keep quiet and obey our rules.”

“They told us to evacuate and filed a false complaint against us”

The assassins gave the police a false complaint about us, spreading lies that we had dangerous weapons with us, and that we were conducting human sacrifices and black magic! The truth is, we lived an authentic Hindu lifestyle with a daily routine that includes yoga, puja and other satvic (filled with positive energy) activities.

Planned ‘segregation’ and ‘isolation was done on me

Since I was living alone, I was defenseless. The mob came and attacked me brutally, while I was sleeping. They exploited my right to life and security. The land encroachers stopped every attempt of me having basic needs such as water, toilet, electricity and even food. The mobs threatened the neighbors and even the water supply company, to prevent supplying water for me. It was a planned segregation and isolation on me.”

The inhuman torture undergone by Sri Nithya Yogaswarupananda is a Gross Violation of United Nations Human Rights Declaration: violation of Right to life, security (Article -3) ‘No torture or inhuman treatment’ (Article -5)

Krishnan was one of the assassins (also encroachers) who had illegally occupied a major portion of the property that was gifted to His Divine Holiness Paramahamsa Nithyananda by a devotee as a mark of her gratitude to her spiritual master. Krishnan had illegally encroached on the property to house his own family, unconstitutionally. To this day, his entire family is illegally living there. Krishnan and his family became henchmen to the larger forces who want to

eliminate His Divine Holiness and his Sanyasis. They were employing all means to meet their end.

25 APRIL 2017 – FIRST ATTACK - SANYASI VIOLENTLY BEATEN AND MANHANDLED BY ASSASSINS

“I struggled to remain on the land”- recalled Sri Nithya Yogaswarupananda, Sanyasi (Hindu monk) who had dedicated his life to the service of society. Illegal attacks by assassins set up by heads of Sun Television network and Hindu extremist militant groups, continued to illegally encroach the property and harass it’s rightful owners - the Nithyananda Sangha.

One day Krishnan went a step ahead and started vandalising the place, in the name of leveling the ground. He was removing the bushes and cutting down the trees. Startled by the sudden happening, the Sanyasi in-charge of security, demanded an explanation. Krishnan gripped his throat and pushed him out of the property, all the way. Yogaswarupananda struggled to out of his choke-hold, with the throat burning. Helpless, wounded and paralyzed, he called the police for help. They came and stopped the work. They registered his complaint. But no further action happened.

3 MAY 2017 – SECOND ATTACK - PLANNED CHARACTER ASSASSINATION OF HINDU MONKS

Krishnan, an illegal encroacher on the land and who is the henchman of the forces contending for the land, attempted to manipulate ownership of the Trishulam Aadheenam property. Krishnan thrashed the land and created havoc, then destroyed the evidence of his attack on April 28, 2017, and going on vengefully filed a false complaint against Ma Nithya Supriyananda Swami and Sri Nithya Yogaswarupananda - the two Sanyais (Hindu monks) who were on the land at that time.

Krishnan bragged to the police, “Yes, I only took their cell phone and destroyed it to hide the evidence of what my hired henchmen have done. What can you do about it?” The police tried to close the case by telling the Sanyasis that they will give them another cellphone as a compensation. Of what use is it?! It is not that the Sanyasis don’t have the means for a cellphone. It is about the evidence and other important data in the phone and arrest of the crime and life threat!

Ma Nithya Supriyananda Swami says, “We were forbidden the right to protection of moral and material interests. All our evidence and communication materials were destroyed and female sanyasis equally attacked.”

5 MAY 2017 – THIRD ATTACK - HINDU SANYASIS PHYSICALLY AND VERBALLY ASSAULTED IN THEIR OWN HOME

Two male and two female Sanyasis were accosted and attacked by a gang of anti-social, anti- spiritual assassins incited with hatred by Hindu extremist militant groups, who caught them off guard while they were walking in their own property, surveying their land for building a low cost hospital and other services. The assassins brutally attacked and abused the Sanyasis. They pulled one of the female sanyasi saree in an effort to humiliate her and insult her sacred vows.

Ma Nithya Supriyananda says, “They not only pushed me to the ground and pulled my clothes, but disgustingly tried to justify this heinous abuse by calling us ‘keeps of Nithyananda,’ implying that we are not chaste devotees, but prostitutes.”

They also manhandled her sister disciple, Ma Nithya Pavitrananda Swami, trying to remove her clothing as well as beating both the male Sanyasis, Sri Nithya Yogaswarupananda and Sri Nithya Yogapriyananda.

Yogapriyananda recalls, “It was also an attack on our sacred sentiment. Beating a man is one thing; in my case, though, they beat me and also ripped my mala, my blessed prayer beads,

right off my neck, threw them onto the ground and stomped on them. These beads were gifted to me by Swamiji, so this was truly devastating for me.”

The battered Sanyasis filed a police complaint against their attackers, and continued to stay there to serve the villagers, offering spiritual services to the people despite the very real threat against their lives amidst the continuous stream of assaults.

12 MAY 2017 – FOURTH ATTACK - ASSASSINS SPEW LIFE THREATS TO STOP PROGRESS OF HUT REPAIR

On 12 May 2017, the Sanyasis at the Trishulam Aadheenam were taking steps to repair the single hut they were living in, as it was almost collapsing over them, thus rendering it uninhabitable.

The Sanyasis had ordered fresh thatch with a devotee who brought it in early morning. The Sanyasis had just finished their morning everyday Guru Puja when they heard some trouble brewing outside the hut. They went out and saw that the thatch roof was brought in a vehicle by devotee Jairam. But in front of the vehicle, two chief instigators and henchmen of the Hindu- extremist forces - former Councilor Anbukumar and his aide Viji - were standing, opposing the redoing of the hut.

They attacked the devotee and truck driver threatening to finish them off if they unloaded. They quickly ran up the hill and incited the mob to come down. Soon, there was a crowd of them verbally abusing the Sanyasis. Soon, just through bickering and hurling of vulgar words, a sort of a programmed confusion was put in place by the instigating elements.

The Sanyasis filed an official police complaint for the atrocity.

Ma Nithya Bhaktikananda Swami recalls: They were shouting words such as: stupids, bitch, prostitute, rascal, scoundrel dogs, etc in an explicit way. Specifically Ma Nithya Supriyananda, was abused by Viji using her backward community and caste names. They were hurling murder threats. They were taking videos, photos, harassing us in a derogatory manner. They attacked the contractor and the vehicle that had brought the items for relaying the hut. They abused and used vulgar words to the female Sanyasis who

were near me. The place where we are staying now is like forest with overgrown trees and with lots of snakes and life-threatening poisonous creatures. It is an emergency and immediate action required to clean the place and provide basic facilities to live. But they are not allowing us to fulfill our basic needs which is life threatening. I request you to take immediate action to save my life.”

16 JUNE 2017 – FIFTH ATTACK - MOB LYNCHING ON SANYASIS

A huge planned genocide was executed on the night of 16th, to destroy lives, property and any trace of the Aadheenam. The Sanyasis had hired three JCB operators to level the land. The henchmen of the Hindu extremist groups, rounded up the three JCB operators and thrashed them physically with sharp weapons, iron rods and rock-stones. Their JCB machines were completely smashed. Then, hundreds of attackers directly started attacking the Sanyasis with sharp weapons and rock-stones. The Sanyasis who were on the path of ahimsa (non-violence), tried to save their lives by reaching the nearest residential unit and locking the doors. The stones and rods kept landing relentlessly like missiles. It was a huge planned massacre. Ruthlessly, the infrastructure and the living units of the Sanyasis were beaten and broken.

Ma Nithya Supriyananda shares: “I was hearing the sound of the stones landing long after the attack stopped. I was hearing it the whole night. I could not sleep for even a minute. What if they attacked us when we were sleeping….”

The Sanyasis filed a police complaint. Most painfully, no action was taken. Why such blatant insensitivity towards the innocent and vulnerable Sanyasis? Who was the Police ‘working with’ to ignore

such a major life attack?

17th June 2017 passed on quietly. Meanwhile, devotees rushed to the spot after hearing about the attack, and started restoring the vandalized place and property to the best of their ability.

18 JUNE 2017 – SIXTH ATTACK – BRUTAL DAYLIGHT LIFE-ATTACK ON SANYASIS

The relentless persecution on the Sanyasis continued on the 18 th , this time in broad daylight. Many sanyasis could have died, with attempt to murder and rape in broad daylight.

The reason for the second attack was the heartless INACTION of the police for the complaint filed for the previous mass-attack.

Senior Sanyasi Ma Bhaktikananda recalls, “We begged the Inspector to take action against the attackers. We could not sleep in the nights thinking that they might attack us at any time. The inspector asked us: ‘Has someone died that we need to take action? Relax. It is not required.’ We were shocked! So, only if there is a death, the police will take notice and enforce action!

On 18th June 2017, in broad daylight at around 10.30 am, around 150 of the assassin group entered the living areas of the Sanyasis, hurling heavy boulder stones at high speed and directly at the Sanyasis who were by now running for their lives to protect themselves in the nearest shelter. The attack lasted for over an hour till the police arrived. The attackers used metal rods, wooden rods, other sharp objects, stones and anything they got in their hands to attack.

Life and Property attacked ruthlessly

Several Sanyasis saw bloodshed but had to remain hidden where they were lest their very life would be taken away by the attackers.

Two cars were smashed down and overturned

Two mobile rathas- temple vehicles carrying Hindu deities - were smashed down thus directly abusing the Hindu deities they were carrying.

All the CCTV surveillance cameras were smashed

Sanyasis’ laptops, PCs, printers and mobile phones were destroyed.

All the doors and windows were broken

Several large water tanks were torn and punctured

Furniture was broken.

Electrical fittings and plumbing connections were broken

The cooked food was overturned to the ground. and much more…

And a peak atrocity done to the Sanyasis amidst the brutal attack was: the attackers connived with the police and filed a false complaint against Sri Nithya Yogaswarupananda, a male Sanyasi claiming he indulged in eve-teasing of a lady from the attackers side. The Sanyasis were shocked with disbelief at the false complaint. Helplessly, everyone stood, watching their own innocent Sanyasi being taken away by the Police, even though he was the one who was being violently attacked.

The Sanyasis filed a police complaint against the attackers. This time, the police could not but take action because the threat and damage were irrefutable.
