Content: WHAT IS GRATITUDE?

Content: The key to true happiness in today's world, any action needs a reason. When there is utility there is action, or else justifying the action becomes difficult. Real gratitude can never have a reason. It happens as a causeless flowering within you.

Content: Does the flower bloom for a reason?

Content: No! It blooms because it is its very nature.

Content: © 2020 Sri Nithyananda Paramashivam. All Rights Reserved

Page 7

Content: Gratitude is our real nature. Layers of conditioning from society have covered it.

Content: Society doesn’t know the language of gratitude. It knows only the language of utility. It straightaway instills greed and fear in us, so that we will give it the needed results.

Content: © 2020 Sri Nithyananda Paramashivam. All Rights Reserved

Page 8

Content: Society doesn't know there is a path of gratitude that will give much better results than the paths of fear and greed. That is the problem.

Content: There are endless reasons to feel gratitude.

Content: This life itself is a gift that we have received. To be born with human consciousness is the first blessing we have received. Our gratitude should start right from there. Just for being we should feel grateful.

Content: When you miss gratitude, very often you will be gripped with the feeling that life is sour, but you won't know the real reason for that feeling. Receive every small thing in life as a gift. When you take your plate to eat, see the plate as a gift. When you serve food on the plate, see the food as a gift. When you sit down on the chair to eat, see the chair as a gift. When you wash your hands after eating, see your fingers as a gift.

Content: WHAT DiDN'T KNOW ABOUT GRATiTUDE

Content: All your life, you use the words Thank You.

Content: Right from childhood, you are taught to say

Content: Thank You. By the time we grow into adults,

Content: it has become a part of us. We use the words

Content: mechanically, in a businesslike way.

Content: The words Thank You rarely carry the

Content: emotion that they are supposed to: gratitude.

Content: In fact, we base our whole life on the

Content: opposite emotion: expectation. In

Content: our relationships, we demand love. In society, we

Content: demand attention. From ourselves, we

Content: demand better and better performance. And

Content: from God, we demand everything that no

Content: one else can give us!

Content: The whole of existence is an auspicious happening. Nothing that happens in existence is inauspicious. Everything is only a blessing. When we realize this everything appears extra ordinary to us.

Page 30

Content: Everything appears as a miracle. Miracles are continuously happening in front of our eyes, but we continuously miss them because of this our lives becomes dull. You will never be able to realize or understand yourself until you accept yourself and celebrate what you are.

Content: We carry two identities within ourselves. One is outer world identity, what we present to the world. The other is the inner world identity, what we believe we really are. The outer world identity will always be much more than who we really are.

Content: 2020 Sri Nithyananda Paramashivam. All Rights Reserved

Page 31

Content: The inner world identity will usually be much lesser that what we actually are. Our whole life is nothing but the struggle between these two identities If you celebrate whatever you are you can stop this struggle. If you continuously use your to logic to analyze and judge and try to bring things under control; you will miss the whole thing. Just accept and celebrate existence with all its different dimensions and paradoxes.

Content: Don't judge anything. Every incident raises our intelligence, raises our frequency of consciousness. All we need to do is look at the world as a story, as an intelligent mystery. If we approach the suffering with acceptance and intelligence, suddenly you will see that the very suffering gives you enlightenment. It adds joy and experience to your life.

Page 38

Content: INTRODUCTION

Content: The main reason why we miss experiencing gratitude is that we take everything for granted. Others do things for us out of love, as a kind gesture; but we take these things for granted.

Content: Each individual plays an equal part in our life; no one should be taken for granted. We take our parents, our friends as granted and we think whatever we receive from them is our birth right. This thought prevents us from expressing gratitude towards them. There are people who are born with deficiencies or are differently able, but we have everything. Yet we take it all for granted.

Content: © 2020 Sri Nithyananda Paramashivam. All Rights Reserved

Page 39

Content: When we see things with gratitude we become one with the galaxy and our inner space expands like a galaxy. When we take things for granted, appreciation will never come spontaneously to us.

Content: We always take relationships for granted. Learn to treat every individual as a part of the whole and feel gratitude towards him or her. Your response to recognize the abundance of existence is being thankful. It happens as causeless flowering within us.
