  1. There is a difference of opinion regarding the pratımukha sandhi. According to Dhananjaya the development must be partly perceptible and partly imperceptible (eeaddxs (oaae „3. Dasarupaka Prakasa 1, s1.11.) But Abhinavagupta does not accept this. According to him the various sandhis represent the differnt states of the seed and the visiblity is the only thing to be presented in the pratimukha. கல ஜய ஸ்ரப்.ுவஸ் sஸ் லக் லவி. கக்கில்

  1. S.D., Parıccheda 6, Karikas 79 - 80. 225. D.R. mentions sama in the place of tapana and defines it as aratisama S.D. defines that, when one finds no way out, it is acase of tapana. 226. This is defined as sancıntyamanaptı by Dhananjaya, and as knowing the feelings of others by Visvantha. The example given here is in accordance with the latter interpretation. 227. Ibid., Canto 3., v.284. Not included by the Dasarupaka. 228. Ibid., Canto 3., pr.246. This is mentioned as ksipti in the Sahityadarpana. 229. K.P, Canto 3., v.262. The Dasarupaka mentions it as sambhrama. The Sahityadarpana defines it as commotion (3182ex) due to doubt, fear and alarm. Studies in Kalapurnodayam

229-a. Dhananjaya defines this quite differently when he says:

What Bharata calls vidrava becomes drava in Dhananjaya's Dasarupaka. Kheda to be found in the Natyasastra and Sahityadarpana is missing in the Dasarupaka and in its place there is vdrava with a different meaning. The exam- ple is cited in accordance with the definition of Bharata.

  1. The Sahityadarpana mentions this as pratisedha while Dhananjaya calls it vicalana and defines it as vikatthama or self-praise. 231. This is mentioned as purvabhāva by the Dasarupaka. 233. S.D., paricchēda, 3, Darika 32. D.r., Ch. 2sls.485. K.A.S., Canto 2, v. 4. K.C., Canto 3, v. 5. 303
