Atharvaveda 15.1 · 8 mantras

15.1.1

vrātya āsīd īyamāna eva sa prajāpatiṃ sam airayat ॥

Vratya, eternal benefactor and inspirer of humanity ever awake was and is there. Self-manifested, he stirred himself as Prajapati, as creator and sustainer of the children of his creation.

15.1.2

sa prajāpatiḥ suvarṇam ātmann apaśyat tat prājanayat ॥

Having stirred himself into the creative state as Prajapati, he manifested his golden consort, his own self inspired Shakti, Prakrti. Thus started the evolution of existence.

15.1.3

tad ekam abhavat tal lalāmam abhavat tan mahad abhavat taj jyeṣṭham abhavat tad brahmābhavat tat tapo 'bhavat tat satyam abhavat tena prājāyata ॥

That manifest Vratya thus became One, the one defined as creator through the medium of Prakrti. That One became the Beautiful, the loved one. That became Mahat, creative Prakrti inspired with divine self-awareness, the first and highest form of self-creative evolution, that became Brahma, the Brhat, expansive universe, that became Tapas, that became Satyam, the real world, thereby he became self-manifestive creator Prajapati.

15.1.4

so 'vardhata sa mahān abhavat sa mahādevo 'bhavat ॥

That grew, evolved and expanded, that became Mahan, that became Mahadeva, the Supreme Creator.

15.1.5

sa devānām īśāṃ pary ait sa īśāno 'bhavat ॥

He became the ruling power of divine forces, the Supreme Ruler.

15.1.6

sa ekavrātyo 'bhavat sa dhanur ādatta tad evendradhanuḥ ॥

He became the Ekavratya, the sole One creative benefactor of all. He took up the Bow, something that causes the flow and expansion further. He holds the Rainbow, spectrum variety of the one Light.

15.1.7

nīlam asyodaraṃ lohitaṃ pṛṣṭham ॥

The central part of this Bow is blue, the outer is red.

15.1.8

nīlenaivāpriyaṃ bhrātṛvyaṃ prorṇoti lohitena dviṣantaṃ vidhyatīti brahmavādino vadanti ॥
