8. Sādākhya

Passage 1

Sādākhya

Passage 2

Sādākhya means that which is always praised. Therefore, the meaning is that the Pure Lord Shiva, who is without names and forms, is praised by devotees as possessing names and forms. The Sādākhyas are five: Shiva-Sādākhya, Amūrti-Sādākhya, Mūrti-Sādākhya, Kartṛ-Sādākhya, and Karma-Sādākhya. The five Sādākhyas arose from the five Śaktis, beginning with Parāśakti.*

Passage 3

Siva-sadakhya arose as a portion of the Supreme Shakti called Santyatitā. It is exceedingly subtle, composed entirely of immeasurable radiance, shining like lightning and pervading everywhere. Amurti-sadakhya arose as a portion of the Primordial Shakti called Santi. It is as radiant as a million suns, formless, lingam-shaped, and a manifest form established within the Light. Murti-sadakhya arose as a portion of Iccha Shakti called Vidya. This sadakhya possesses a radiance equal to that of Kalagni, is lingam-shaped, and has one sacred face on its upper part, containing three eyes. Kartṛ-sadakhya arose as a portion of Jnana Shakti called Pratishtha. It is crystal-bright and divinely beautiful, with four faces in the middle, twelve eyes, and eight arms, possessing perfect characteristics.

The Karmasadakhya manifested as a part of the Kriyashakti called Nivritti.

Passage 11

The first four—Sivasādākkiyam and the others—are connected with one another. Since it has attained the fifth, Karmasādākkiyam, it is more distinguished than the other Sādākkiyams. This Karmasādākkiyam consists of a Linga made of Nāda and a pedestal made of Bindu, and possesses the five divine functions. Although the Karmasādākkiyar appears as both the Linga and the pedestal, he has five sacred faces and ten sacred arms, and is of meditative form.
