Abhishekam

தைலம், பஞ்சகவ்வியம், பஞ்சாமிர்தம், பால், தயிர், நெய், தேன், இளநீர் முதலியவைகளினால் விதிப்படி அபி ஷேகம் பண்ணுதல் புண்ணிய மென்று சைவாகமங்கள் சாற்றுகின்றன. பந்தமாகிய மல அசுத்தத்தை அன்புநீர் கொண்டு சுத்திசெய்வதே அபிஷேகமாகும்.

The Saiva Agamas declare that performing abhishekam according to prescribed rites with oil, pañcagavya, pañcāmṛta, milk, curd, ghee, honey, tender coconut water, and other substances is meritorious. Abhishekam means cleansing the impurity of mala, which constitutes bondage, with the water of love.
