The Fruit of Shiva Worship.

சிவபூசையினால் சகல தருமங்களும் இடையூறின்றி முற் றுப் பெறும் என்பதும், சிவபெருமான் தம்மை அன்பி னோடு பூசிப்பவர்களுக்குக் குழைந்து நிற்பார் என்பதும் உமாதேவியார் காஞ்சீபுாத்திற் செய்த சிவபூசையாற் பெறப் படும். அகங்காரத்திற்குப் பரிகாரமாய் முடிவதும், பிரமகத்தி நோய்க்கு மருந்தாயுள்ளதும், அதிபாதங்கட்குப் பரிகாரமா யுள்ளதும், காலத்தைக் கடக்கச் செய்வதும் சிவபூசையா மென்பது பிரம.விட்டுணுக்கள், அகத்திய முனிவர், தக்கன், மார்க்கண்டேயர் முதலாயினோர் செய்த சிவபூசையினாலே பெறப்படும்.

That all righteous duties are completed without hindrance through Shiva worship, and that Lord Shiva melts with love and stands graciously by those who worship Him with devotion, are demonstrated by the Shiva worship performed by Goddess Uma at Kanchipuram. That Shiva worship serves as a remedy for egoism, a cure for the disease of Brahmahatya, an expiation for grave sins, and a means of transcending time is shown by the Shiva worship performed by Brahma, Vishnu, the sage Agastya, Daksha, Markandeya, and others.

புகழ்த்துணை நாயனார் சிவாகம விதிப்படி பரமசிவனை அர்ச்சித்து வருங்காலத்திலே பஞ்சமுண்டானமையால், பசி

Pugazhthunai Nayanar worshipped Paramaśiva according to the injunctions of the Śivāgamas. When a famine arose, and he was afflicted with severe hunger,

மிகப் பெற்றும் அரன்பூசையை விடுவேனல்லேன் என்று அல்லும் பகலும் அருச்சித்து வந்தார். ஒருநாள் திருமஞ் சன மாட்டும் பொழுது மிகுந்த பசிநோயினாற் கைசோர்ந்து, அபிஷேக கலசந் திருமுடிமேல் விழத் தாம் திருவடியிலே விழுந்து அயர்ந்து திருவருளினாலே நித்திரை செய்தார். அப்பொழுது பரமசிவன் அவருக்குச் சொப்பனத்திலே தோன்றி, “பஞ்சம் நீங்கும் வரைக்கும் உனக்குத் தினம் தோறும் இங்கே ஒவ்வொரு காசு வைப்போம்” என்று அருளிச் செய்தார். புகழ்த்துணைநாயனார் விழித்து எழுந்து பீடத்தின் கீழே ஒரு காசு இருக்கக்கண்டு, அதனைக் கைக் கொண்டு வாழ்ந்தார். அந்நாளிலே போல் எந்நாளிலும் அப் படியே ஒரு காசு பெற்றுப் பஞ்சம் நீங்கிப் பின்னும் நெடுங் காலம் மெய்யடிமைத் தொழில் செய்து சிவனாரது திருவடி நீழலை யடைந்தார்.

he continued worshipping Him day and night, saying, “Even if I suffer greatly from hunger, I will not abandon the worship of Hara.” One day, while performing the sacred ablution, his hands weakened by the intense pangs of hunger, and the ablution vessel fell upon the Lord’s sacred crown. He himself fell at the Lord’s feet, became exhausted, and, by divine grace, fell asleep. At that time, Paramaśiva appeared to him in a dream and graciously said, “Until the famine ends, we shall place one coin here for you every day.” Pugazhthunai Nayanar awoke and found a coin beneath the pedestal. Taking it, he sustained himself. From that day onward, he received one coin each day in the same manner. After the famine ended, he continued for a long time in the service of true devotion and attained the shade of Śiva’s sacred feet.

Paṇ—Indalam

அகத்தடிமை செய்புமந் தணன்றா

He performs inner servitude, O Brahmin,

னரிசிற்புனல் கொண்டுவந் தாட்டுகின்றான்

Bringing water in his hands and bathing Him,

மிகத்தளர் வெய்திக் குடத்தையு நம்

Becoming utterly exhausted, even our pot..

முடிமேல் விழுத்திட்டு நடுங்குதலும்

Trembling as it falls upon the crown of the head

வகுத்தவனுக்கு நித்தம் டடியும்

Ever paying homage to the Ordainer

வருமென்றொரு காசினை நின்றநன்றிப்

Standing in gratitude, saying that a coin would come

புகழ்த்துணை கைப்புகச் செய்துகந்தீர்

You rejoiced in placing the hymn of praise into His hands

பொழிலார் திருப்புத்தூர்ப் புனிதனீரே.

O holy one of verdant Tirupputtur.

உயர்திணப் பொருள்களேயன்றி அஃறிணைப் பொருள் களும் சிவபூசையினால் வேண்டியவைகளைப் பெற்றன என் பது யானை சர்ப்பம் சிலந்தி முதலாயின செய்த சிவரூசை நூனாலே பெறப்படும்.

Not only beings of the higher order but also those of the lower order obtained what they desired through the worship of Shiva; this can be learned from the accounts of the worship offered by the elephant, serpent, spider, and others.
