The nature of Shiva-knowledge.

மேற்கூறிய ஞானயாகம் ஐந்தனுள் ஓதல், ஓதுவித்தல்’ கேட்பித்தலாகிய முன்னைய மூன்றும் ஆசிரியனையின்றியும் நிகழ்வனவாதலின், ஆசிரியனால் அறிபுறுத்தும் கேட்டல் சிந்தித்தல் தெளிதல் நிட்டை என்றும் நான்குமே உண்மை ஞானம் எனப்படும்.

Of the five forms of the above-mentioned jnana-yaga, the first three—reciting, causing others to recite, and causing others to hear—can occur even without a teacher. Therefore, only the latter four—hearing the teachings imparted by the teacher, reflecting, gaining clarity, and abiding steadfastly—are called true knowledge.

கேட்டலாவது:- பதி பசு பாசங்களின் சிறப்பிலக்கணங் களை ஆசாரியர் வாயிலாகக் கேட்டறிதல். அறிதலென்பது தநு கரண புவன போகங்கள் சடப்பொருள்கள்; ஆன்மா வுக்கு அந்நியமானவை; ஆன்மா தூலசித்து; மலமறைப்பி னாலே தனது இயல்பை அறியாது பி பஞ்சத்தில் வசப்பட் டுத் துன்புறுகின்றது; பதி அதிசூக்குமசித்து; எங்கும் வியா பகமுள்ளது; உயிர்க்குயிராய் இருக்கும் இயல்புடையது; எல் லாவற்றையும் ஒருங்கே ஓரியல்பாய் அறியும் பேரறிவுடை யது என்று அறிதலாம்.

Hearing means learning, through the teacher, the distinctive characteristics of Pati, Pasu, and Pasa. Knowing means understanding that the body, instruments, worlds, and objects of experience are insentient entities and are alien to the soul; that the soul is grossly conscious; that, because of the concealment caused by the impurities, it does not know its own nature, becomes subject to the phenomenal world, and suffers; that Pati is supremely subtle consciousness, all-pervading, and inherently the life of the soul; and that He possesses the supreme knowledge by which He knows everything simultaneously as one nature.

சிந்தித்தலாவது :- ஆசாரியரிடத்துக் கேட்ட பொருளை மனனஞ் செய்து ஆராய்தலாம்.

Reflecting means contemplating and examining the truth heard from the teacher.

தெளிதலாவது:- அங்ஙனம் ஆராய்ந்தபின் பாசநீக்கம் பெற்றுப் பதியை அடையவேண்டு மென்று துணிதலாம்.

Gaining clarity means, after such examination, resolving that one must attain Pati by becoming free from Pasa.

நிட்டைகூடலாவது :- சிவபெருமானுடன் பிரிப்பின்றி உறுதியாக நிற்றலாம். நிட்டை கைவரப் பெற்றவர் பர முத்தியை யணடவர்.

The attainment of Nittai means standing firmly and inseparably united with Lord Shiva. Those who attain Nittai attain supreme liberation.

இந்நான்கினுள் வாராது தீக்கியில் அத்துவசுத்தி பண் ணப்பட்டு, ஓதல் ஓதுவித்தல் கேட்பித்தலில் நின்று யாக்கை நீங்கப் பெற்றனர், சிவலோகாதி பதமுத்திகளைப் பெற்று

Among these four, those who do not fall within them, but undergo purification of the pathways during initiation, remain engaged in reciting, teaching others to recite, and listening, and upon leaving the body attain the liberations associated with the various realms, such as the realm of Shiva.

ஆண்டுள்ள இன்பத்தினை நன்கு அனுபவித்து, சிவபெருமா னது ஆணையால் அங்கு நின்று நீங்கி, இவ்வுலகத்தில் நற் குலத்தில் வந்தவதரித்து, குருவால் நிட்டையினைப் பெற்று வீட்டினை அடைவர். இவ்வுலகத்துக்கு வராமல் சிவலோகத் தில் சிவபெருமானே குருவாய் உபதேசிக்கக் கேட்டல் முத லிய ஞானத்தைப் பெற்று நிட்டையினால் வீட்டை அடையி னும் அடைவர்.

After fully experiencing the bliss that exists there, they depart from that place by the command of Lord Shiva, are reborn in a virtuous family in this world, receive Nittai from their guru, and attain liberation. Some attain liberation through Nittai without returning to this world, by receiving the knowledge beginning with listening when Lord Shiva himself, as their guru, imparts instruction in the realm of Shiva.

சரியை கிரியை யோகங்களாகிய சிவபுண்ணியங்களை விதி வழி நின று அநுட்டித்தோர் பதமுத்திகளைப் பெற்றுச் சர்வ சங்கார காலத்தில் பக்குவமடைந்தவர் ஆண்டுநின்று முத்தி யடைவர். சிவபெருமானது அநுக்கிரகத்தைப் பெறாதோர், மீட்டும் பூமியில் வந்து பிறந்து குருவருளால் ஞானம் பெற் றுச் சிவனடி சேர்வர்.

Those who properly practise the meritorious works dedicated to Shiva—Chariya, Kiriya, and Yoga—according to the prescribed rules attain the liberations associated with the various realms. When they have matured at the time of the universal dissolution, they remain there and attain liberation. Those who do not receive the grace of Lord Shiva return to Earth and are reborn; then, through the grace of a guru, they gain knowledge and reach the feet of Shiva.
