The Sacred Five Letters,

பஞ்சாக்ஷூ உபதேசம் மாணாக்கனது பக்குவ தாரதம் மியத்தின்படி சோபானக்கிரமத்தில் முறையே தூலம் சூக் குமம் காரணம் என மூன்று வகைப்படும். திருவைந்தெழுத்து ஆசாரியரிடம் உபதேசக் கிரமமாகப் பெற்றுச் செபிக்கத் தக்கது.

The initiation into the Panchakshara is of three kinds—gross, subtle, and causal—imparted successively according to the student’s degree of maturity, in the manner of ascending steps. The Sacred Five Letters are to be received from the preceptor in the proper order of initiation and recited.

பஞ்சாக்ஷூமே வேதங்கள்; பஞ்சாக்ஷாமே ஆகமங்கள்; பஞ்சாக்ஷரமே புராணங்கள்; பஞ்சாக்ஷரமே அருவுருவம் உருவம் என்னும் திருமேனிகள்; பஞ்சாக்ஷரமே ஆனந்த ஙட னம்; பஞ்சாக்ஷுரமே மௌன முத்தியாம். ஆதலின், வேதா கம புராணாதிகளுள் ஒன்றேனும் அறிபாதவராயினும், நோயாளி மருந்துண்ணற்கு அவபத்தியங்களை நீக்குமாறு போல, பொய் கொலை களவு காமம் கள்ளுண்டல் முதலிய

The Panchakshara itself is the Vedas; the Panchakshara itself is the Agamas; the Panchakshara itself is the Puranas; the Panchakshara itself is the divine forms known as Aruvuruvam and Uruvam; the Panchakshara itself is the blissful union; the Panchakshara itself is liberation through silence. Therefore, even those who have not learned any of the Vedas, Agamas, Puranas, and the like, just as a sick person must avoid contraindicated foods in order to take medicine, must renounce falsehood, killing, theft, lust, drinking intoxicants, and so on.

பாவங்களை நீக்கி, கண்களினின் றும் ஆனந்த நீர் பொழியச் சிவபெருமானுடைய திருவடிகளை மனதில் தியானித்துக் கொண்டு, சிவபெருமான் ஆண்டவன், தான் அடிமை என் னும் சிந்தையோடு, ஸ்ரீபஞ்சாக்ஷா த்தை விதிப்படி மெய்யன் போடு செபித்துவரின், அவருள்ளத்திலே சிவபெருமான் பிர காசித்து, மும்மலங்களும் நீங்கும்படி ஞானனந்தத்தைப் பிரகாசித்தருளுவர்.

Meditating in his mind on the sacred feet of Lord Shiva, which remove sins and cause tears of bliss to flow from his eyes, and with the thought that Lord Shiva is the Master and he himself is His servant, if one sincerely chants the Sri Panchakshara according to the prescribed method, Lord Shiva will shine within his heart and graciously reveal the bliss of wisdom, thereby dispelling the three impurities.

ஏது மொன்று மறிவில ராயினு

Though they know nothing whatsoever

மோதி யஞ்செழுத் தும்புணர்வார் கட்குப்

For those who meditate upon the five sacred letters,

போத மின்றி யவரவ ருள்ளத்தே

He joyfully manifests within the hearts of each of them,

மாதுந் தாமு மகிழ்வர்மாற் பேறரே.

Together with His Consort, granting them supreme bliss.
