To the Primordial One

லுற்ற திருநீறஞ் சிவாலயமு முள்ள த்துச்

Do not go to the outcast who bears sacred ash and has a temple in his heart—

செற்ற புலையர்பாற் செல்லாதே — நற்றவஞ்சேர்

He who is endowed with excellent penance.

வேடமுடன் பூசையருண் மெய்ஞ்ஞான மில்லாத

Without true spiritual knowledge, [one merely] performs worship with ritual attire

மூடருடன் கூடி முயங்காதே.

Do not associate or mingle with fools.

தூயவெண் ணீ று துதைந்தபொன் மேனியுந் தாழ்வடமு

His golden form is adorned with sacred white ash and a pendant cord

நாயகன் சேவடி தைவரு சிந்தையு ஙைந்துருகிப்

As the Lord’s feet entered their melting, devoted hearts,

பாய்வது போலன்பு நீர்பொழி கண்ணும் பதிகச் செஞ்சொன்

Their eyes poured streams of love, as though overflowing, and their red lips uttered hymns of pure Tamil;

மேயசெவ் வாயு முடையார் புகுந்தனர் வீதியுள்ளே.

Those blessed ones entered the streets, possessing such coral-red mouths.
