அசுத்தமாயையாவது நித்தியமாய், வியாபகமாய், அருவ மாய், ஏகமாய்ப், பலசத்திகளையுடையதாய், உலகத் தோற்றத்

Impure Maya is eternal, all-pervading, formless, one, endowed with many powers, the primary cause of the creation of the universe,

துக்கு முதற் காரணமாய், சடமாய், விபரீத உணர்வை உண் டாக்குவதாய், கன்மாதிகாரமுள்ள ஆன்மாக்களைத் தன் காரி யங்களாயுள்ள கலாதிகளின் வழியாய்ப் பந்திப்பதாய், ச்கலருக் குத் தநு கரண புவன போகங்களைத் தோற்றுவிப்பதாய், சங்கார காலத்தில் ஆன்மாக்கள் வந்து பொருந்துமிடமாய், மும்மலங்களுள் ஒன்றாய், திரோதானசத்தியாற் காரியப்படுவ தாயிருக்கும். *

inert, productive of erroneous cognition, binding souls possessing the authority of karma through the kalās and other entities that are its effects, creating bodies, instruments, worlds, and experiences for all souls, serving as the place where souls come to abide at the time of dissolution, being one of the three impurities, and becoming operative through the concealing power of Tirodhāna Śakti.*

Prakṛti Maya, which arose from impure Maya, is said to be non-eternal.

மாயை , பிரபஞ்சமாய்த் தோன்றுதலும் ஒடுங்குதலும், உயிர்களுக்குக் கருவியாய் நின்று அறிவை விளக்குகலும், போகந்தருதலுமாகிய இவையெல்லாம் செய்தற்கு அறிவில் லாத சடமாகையால் அ, கனால் இயலாது. கன்மத்துகளேற்ப இவற்றைக் காரியப்படுத்துந் தன்மை சிவபெருமானுடைய அருளாகிய திரோ தான சத்தியால் நிகழ்வனவாம்.

Maya cannot perform all these functions—appearing and subsiding as the universe, serving as an instrument for souls, illuminating their knowledge, and providing experiences—because it is an unconscious, inert entity devoid of knowledge. These functions are brought about in accordance with karma by the concealing power, Tirodhāna Śakti, which is the grace of Lord Shiva.
