52. Prakṛti Māyā
Passage 1
Prakṛti Māyā.
Passage 2
Through Antheśvara, Lord Śiva presides over Śrīkaṇṭharudra, the chief of the Pralayākalas, and causes the Kalā Tattva to stir. Then Prakṛti Māyā appears within the Kalā Tattva as the unmanifest quality, just as the fragrance inherent in a flower bud remains concealed without manifesting, and the qualities arising within it remain entirely unmanifest.
Passage 3
Then, just as a sprout emerges from an ālam seed, these qualities arise in Prakriti as threefold—sattva, rajas, and tamas. When they exist in a state of equilibrium, without manifesting distinctly or separately, they are called the Tattva of the Guṇas.
Passage 4
Since the Prakriti Tattva and the Tattva of the Guṇas do not differ in their essential nature, and for other reasons as well, they are not classified separately but are considered as a single tattva.
