The Narasiṃha Purāṇa (Nṛsiṃha Purāṇa), one of the eighteen Upapurāṇas — the secondary Purāṇas that stand beside the eighteen Mahāpurāṇas. A Vaiṣṇava work centred on the Narasiṃha avatāra of Viṣṇu, it treats creation and the yugas, the royal genealogies, dharma and the duties of the varṇas and āśramas, śrāddha and vrata observances, yoga and devotion, and narrates the destruction of Hiraṇyakaśipu and the deliverance of Prahlāda.
